Top Ten Required Reading Edition

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme started over at The Broke and the Bookish where they give us a topic and we give our top ten.

This week we were given the choice to do ten books we thing should be read in schools or ten that should be paired with an already required title. I'm going to go with ten books that should be required.

1. Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley
Can I really say anything new about this book? I mean, it pretty much ends up on every list I do.

2. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancy
This is a really interesting look at the way humanity reacts in a crisis, plus I think it would be interesting to see if things could happen the way Yancy said.

3. World War Z by Max Brooks
Pretty much the same as above. This goes into a little more depth and detail about the global scale but it's really fascinating.

4. Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
What if our society was really set up like that? What if we had Darwinists? This book raises a lot of interesting questions.

5. White Cat by Holly Black
This is an interesting look at society when something like magic becomes a forbidden part of everyday life.

6. Across the Universe by Beth Revis
This is another interesting look at society under different circumstances. There was something really interesting and really disturbing about this book.

7. Dollbones by Holly Black
This is a really cool look at growing up. But paired with that is the possibility of history lessons mixed in with the doll making.

8. Canary by Rachele Alpine
This book reminds me a lot of Laurie Halse Anderson books and it looks at what happens with privilege and popularity in high school.

9. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
This is a book about fighting and about not giving up.

10. Sea of Tranquility by Katya Millay
This would be a totally controversial choice. It's pretty dark and racy, lots of swearing and sexual comments but it is a lot about moving on and being who you are. I think it's one students would really like too.

Those are my ten should be required books.

Which topic did you do? What were your choices?
